This week I want to focus on corn. Like the other weeks when we went over the balance sheet blind spots for soybeans and then wheat, I want to dig into what’s truly happening in cash markets around the world.

With a multitude of demand sectors and factors that influence production decisions, corn has the most complicated story out of the three. From rising energy costs potentially supporting demand, to a corn-sour farmer in certain parts of the world and drought conditions across the U.S. fringe, there are numerous factors at play in the corn market needing to be discussed.

This week we’re going to take a deep dive into corn and just what’s happening in the major markets around the world.


Balance Sheet Blind Spots by Country

China

China has my attention the most when it comes to corn, because their needs have the power to make or break the global balance sheet.
