Morning Wrap Up: The soybean lineup for China is dropping fast

Very few reports of harvesting this weekend in Mato Grosso. IMEA estimates only 1.46% till Jan 10th – the lowest rate. Elevators in Mato Grosso are very empty so far, and the percentage of damaged beans is increasing. In RGDS spot rains reported. Western Paraná is harvesting soybeans at a normal rate and planting corn. The lack of rain in MGDS is also reducing the crop size. EC and GFS are showing better conditions for harvesting for 1-6 days, then widespread rain and lower temps will return to Center-North regions. Total soybean shipments as of Jan 15th are at 500,000 tons and nominations at 3.7 Mi t – LY the total exported volume as of Jan 15th was 1 Mi t and nominations at 4.7 Mi tons. The difference will grow fast. The smeal export program is also behind LY. DCE rallied today. Soybean and Smeal spreads on the DCE continue to firm up. China will see a very aggressive drop in soybean and smeal stocks. The soybean lineup for China is very low, only 3.4 million tons shipped in 4 weeks, with nominations at 4.7 million, including Argentina, Brazil, and the US. In the last three soybean auctions in China, demand was much stronger than the average.
