Morning Wrap Up: Soybean Farmer selling in Brazil is more active

Soybean premiums in Paranaguá experienced a decline yesterday, with rumors of April at -45sk, a 12-cent drop compared to last Friday. This drop is attributed to the increase in farmer selling. Our assessment pegs the volume at 600k tons yesterday, though some traders have projected it could reach up to 700k tons. Notably, Goiás and Mato Grosso are at the forefront of this surge in farmer selling, with crushers looking to expand their coverage to meet the rising domestic demand for oil and international demand for soybean meal. In Mato Grosso, the crush margins remain poor, not including biodiesel, whereas Goiás and Paraná report better figures, thanks, in part, to the more reasonable soybean basis compared to Mato Grosso. Meanwhile, in China, there's a robust demand for soybean meal, yet the basis prices remain suppressed. Soybean meal is still significantly cheaper compared to other lower quality meals and even compared to corn, underscoring a market imbalance.
